1. PERFECT 10......Don't look now, but that's 10 wins in a row for the Clippers, their longest winning streak since moving to Los Angeles in 1984.....L.A. got 15 points off the bench from Jamaal Crawford, and four other players scored in double-figures as the Clip Joint won in Detroit over the Pistons to complete a perfect 4-0 road trip to the Midwest....LA's 18-6 record is tied for the second-best in the NBA, trailing only Oklahoma City, which improved to 20-4 on Monday night with a win over the San Antonio Spurs.....The Clips will go for 11 in a row Wednesday night at home against New Orleans......
2. STAR ON THE RISE.....First Jim Harbaugh, and now Ron Caragher.....Another USD football coach is moving up the ladder....Caragher was hired Monday as the the new head coach at San Jose State, replacing Mike MacIntyre who left for Colorado a week ago.....The 45-year-old Caragher, who's a San Jose native, led the Toreros to a 44-22 record in his six seasons as USD's coach, including back-to-back Pioneer League championships the past two seasons....."Every AD is always combing the country for the next bright star," SJSU athletic director Gene Bleymaier said. "This was no different."......
3. STAYING PUT.....After their solid 72-56 victory over USD, the San Diego State men's basketball team held firm in the newest national rankings, released on Monday afternoon.....SDSU (8-1) remained No. 18 in the AP Poll and No. 15 in the Coach's Poll.....It is the 19th-consecutive week that the Aztecs have been ranked....Steve Fisher's team plays host to Point Loma Nazarene tonight, before heading out to Hawaii for the Diamond Head Classic, which will begin on Saturday against U.S.F.....Meanwhile, Duke has taken over as the No. 1 team in the country after Indiana lost over the weekend to Butler......
4. THAT'S 899 INSIDE......And for Syracuse Coach Jim Boeheim, one victory outside -- for a total of 900 career wins.....Boeheim became the third college basketball coach to reach that plateau Monday night as his No. 3-ranked Orange held on to beat Detroit, 72-68......Syracuse, of course, opened this season with a victory here in San Diego, aboard the aircraft carrier Midway, handing San Diego State its only loss so far this season.....The Orange remained undefeated with their win over Detroit as Boeheim joined Mike Krzyzewski and Bobby Knight as the only members of the 900 club.....
5. NEW JAYS.....Toronto wants to try to keep up in the American League East.....And the Blue Jays took another step in that direction on Monday, trading for National League Cy Young Award winner R.A. Dickey.....Dickey will receive $25-million over two years to join Toronto, completing a deal with the New York Mets....Earlier this off-season, Toronto acquired P Josh Johnson, P Mark Buehrle and SS Jose Reyes from the Miami Marlins.....Dickey, meanwhile, becomes the fourth-ever Cy Young Award winner to be traded away prior to the following season, joining David Cone, Pedro Martinez and Roger Clemens (who left Toronto for New York).......
