Weekday Mornings 6am - 10am
Dave and Jeff will put a whole new spin to morning sports talk radio. Not only do they have experience in the business, but gotten it all in San Diego. These two guys are friends as well as colleagues, so they enjoy working together and interacting with listeners. Added into the mix is their own irreverent “third wheel,” Mike Costa, who makes this show an entraining talk trio that’s tailor made for San Diego sports.

I can't believe that we are actually facing the reality the Chargers could be on the verge of moving, and even worse moving to LA….what happened?? Where did it all go astray?? We have talked often on the show, that if we could go back in time, the smart move would have been to build a FOOTBALL stadium downtown locking in the Chargers, Super Bowls etc, and making Qualcomm a baseball only stadium, similar to what the city of Anaheim did with the big A.

The problem is we can't go back in time, and according to Nick Canepa in the UT, the sand is flying thru the hourglass, and the news that the Chargers are on the move could be coming shortly. Who do you blame? There has got to be a fall guy when you lose a team that has been such as huge part of this city for the past 40+ years. So who is it?

Is it Dean Spanos? I am sure a lot of fans will always point the finger in Dean's direction, but I have trouble doing that. 10 million is a ton of cash to spend, especially if your ultimate goal is to move. In my opinion, Dean was committed, and is still committed to keeping the team here, it's just his options are almost gone. Qualcomm stadium is shot. I have had the chance to walk around, and the place is beat up. It leaks like crazy, and needs to be taken behind the barn and put out of it's misery. There is no reason to stay there.

If I had to point the finger at one guy, it would be right at City Attorney Mike Aguirre. I know that he thinks he is doing the best thing for the city, and his speech of how he is fighting for the little guy, I almost know by heart. The trouble is, he is such a pain in the ass, the Chargers refuse to even come to the table and negotiate with him. If they leave did he do his job? If the Aztecs football program, the Holiday Bowl, and the Super Bowl all go away, how exactly did he help San Diego become a better place to live?

My favorite Aguirre memory goes back to 1998 when he was front and center supporting Prop C to get the new baseball only stadium built downtown. Every time you turned around, there was Aguirre telling anyone that would listen how great Prop C was going to be…..until Larry Lucchino told him to back off, then all of a sudden Prop C would be the WORST thing ever to happen to San Diego….That is the guy looking out for our best interests?? I don't like our chances.

I'm sorry if this video offends anyone but to me there is nothing funnier than an angry midget. I was sitting around watching videos of drunk chicks peeing on themselves when I found this video. I hope it makes you laugh and yes I'm sorry if the word midget offends you but the word Little People isn't that funny.

Jeff's Morning Blog:

Have the Padres quit on Bud Black? I hope not, because I like Bud, and I don't blame him, but after what we saw out at Petco for the last week, it's hard not to think the message is not getting across. The Mariners and Twins are not the Red Sox and Yankees, but they may as well be. Alderson told Tim Sullivan this morning that the Pads will be "Sellers" as the trade deadline approaches….shocking!! Not that they are going to be sellers, but that Alderson finally has seen the light, and admits this season is gone.

I just don't know what the Padres have that other teams want. You are not going to move Peavy or Gonzales, and I am guessing that Headley isn't going anywhere, so what does that leave you?? A 38 year old Brian Giles, and a 42 year old Greg Maddux…..wow!! Back up the Brinks truck, because we are going to clean up……..On a different subject, I don’t know what has happened to Arizona, but the Diamondbacks should have a 50 game lead in this division. It is crazy to me to think if San Diego can go 5-1 on this road trip, they could be in 3rd place………….Man, Charger season can't get here fast enough.

Are we too hard on the Padres? Are we alone in feeling frustration because of what looks like a total lack of interest from ownership? This may come as a surprise, but I don't like ripping Sandy Alderson. I really don't. I have never met him, he could be a great guy who is really trying to get this thing fixed, but it sure doesn’t seem like it from any interview I hear with him. As far as the booing of Trevor goes, I think this has gotten blown way out of proportion.

I am a Padres fan, I don’t hide it, but I don’t have blinders on….I watch this team every night, and cant really see how they are a team with a $74 million dollar payroll. Who is earning their money…Adrian?? Of course, having a monster year…Giles?? Dave says no, I say yes…they guy has always been one of my favorite players, and the hustle that he still has despite some base running errors makes me still say yes….Peavy?? Despite throwing 99 pitches an inning Peavy is awesome….of course…but after that it becomes a barrel over Niagara falls.

We talked this morning that if you are not going to spend the money, make a big trade, not just a Bay for Kooze as we talked about earlier this week, but see if you can find a dance partner for a blockbuster…I am talking a 10 player deal!! If you have to move Chris Young…do it….Greene??...gone….even Heath Bell if the price is right, just do something to make Padre baseball interesting again…….

Dave's Morning Blog:

I’ve been doing this show with Jeff for almost 10 years and in all the appearances we’ve done together, last night's apperance at The Miramar Speed Circuit, may have been my favorite. Not only was it a great time but overall, the group of listeners who showed up were the best. They were friendly and proved they understood the ins and outs of the show.

Now getting down to the racing, it was better than I anticipated. I was in the number one position, Jeff was slotted second and Mike was third. So off we go and I think I’m doing great, then two laps later Mike Costa passes me and flicks me off. Well that’s fine but because of his action every listener who passed me for the rest for the race gave me the finger too.

Now I knew I wasn’t going to win but my goal was to finish ahead of those jerks I work with Jeff and Mike. For weeks we all talked a big game and now it was time to put up or shut up. Okay, my goal wasn’t to win but not to finish last and most importantly not crash and catch on fire!

I thought I was off to a good start, and then Mike passed me and then my temper kicked in. I actually threw two hay makers at him as I drove by. So now it's time to put up or shut up and just so you know......I put up! I passed Mike and never saw Jeff. I floored it all the way to a 10th place finish out of 12 possible drivers with Mike finishing 11th and Jeff in dead last.

The racing was very fun and very exciting but to be honest with you, two more laps and I would have probably puked in my helmet.  I was getting a little queasy.  Ok you can start laughing now.

The Twins are in town, and I am fired up. I don't hide the fact they were my favorite team as a kid. The chance to ride my bike with my buddies to the old Met Stadium to watch Harmon Killebrew, Rod Carew, Butch Wynegar, Roy Smalley, etc was a great way to spend a summer. That being said, I am more of a Pads fan then a Twins fan. I'll always cheer for the Twins, but since they were out of most pennant races by May 1st, it's easy to see which team has brought more good memories.

If you would have asked me in 1984 which team would have two world series championships over the next 7 years, it would be a no doubter the Pads!!....However, bad management, and awful drafts have prevented that from happening. When you watch the Twins tonight, keep an eye on how many of their star players came up thru their minor league system. If John Moores ever decides that he wants to spend more then $ 50.00 on a draft choice, maybe we can get a guy Like Joe Mauer playing here.

I hope Palet is right on this trade rumor that he reported this morning. In case you missed it, Dave has been told by major league sources that the Padres are close to a deal that would send Kooze to the Pirates for Jason Bay. I would be sorry to see Kevin go, but the deal makes sense. It gives you a legit right handed power bat in the middle of your lineup, and also gives you a chance to move Chase Headley back to 3rd base. Bay is going to be looking for huge dough when his contract is up at the end of the 2009 season, but with Hoffman, Giles, and Maddux coming off the books, they have the money.

Palet says it should happen this week, so keep an eye out for it………
