As the Padres go for the sweep tonight at Dodgers Stadium, which would be their first sweep of a series of three-or-more games at Dodger Stadium since 2006, I've decided Chris Denorfia needs to play everyday.
In the past I've commended Bud Black for platooning Chris Denorfia just the right amount. But with Maybin's struggles (Struggling is an understatement), Deno needs to be in the everyday lineup.
Not only is Denorfia hitting .395 in 13 games, but to put it simply 'he's a ballplayer.' He has a nose for the ball, the extra base, the big play. He gets it. I feel better with him in the lineup, and his style of play is commendable.
If he were to get 500 at bats this season, sure, he may be exposed as being below average. But with the way this team is playing, it wouldn't hurt to risk it. Free Deno, let him play., night in and night out.
Talk to you at 3.
