Is there a prettier skyline when flying into a particular city? I haven't traveled the world. I've barely traveled the country. But I still think you'd be hard-pressed to find a better looking skyline than arriving at SD's airport. I was reminded that when I got back into  town this morning.

It was great to be in my hometown this weekend. (Carmel Valley, CA. Monterey Peninsula). But even better was returning today. A great week of sports lined up for San Diego. It was exciting to see the Chargers with helmets on at Chargers Park today. Stephen Strasburg and Bryce Harper are coming to town with the Nationals. And I've gotten caught up in the Warriors hype. I know its not in town, but still representing our great state.

At times the media can twist headlines for their own gain. We do it at times in sports. Costa may say before we go to break something like “The Chargers have signed a new quarterback. Does this mean Philip Rivers is on his way out?” Now it turns out Mike Hermann is a DIII QB that may not make the roster but it’s a good tease to get people to stick around.

 However I take issue with it when the media uses it in a fashion that could stir a panic. There was a surfer that passed away early this morning. His body was found with bite marks consistent of a shark. The coroner has said those marks most likely have come after death. If you read deeper into the story it becomes more and more likely since the surfer removed his wetsuit.

 Yet the news, who has all of this information, is still teasing “Shark attack.” That is a very misleading tease. And one that has the potential to cause panic. Specifically to someone like myself who spends a lot of time in the ocean. Memo to local news: more steak and less of the sizzle. Allow accurate reporting to drive your ratings, not misleading teases.

Truly excited to spend the evening with the #Drive team at the Padres game tonight. Who will drink too much? who will eat too much? who will say too much? It should be fun.

And guess what, we aren't watching two last place teams tonight? The Padres are out of the cellar. The Dodgers fall to the bottom of the West. But if you believe in karma, Matt Kemp and LA have some good vibes coming their way. Tip of the cap to you, Matt . (See video.)

I remember last year I opened a broadcast with a very long winded story about being at the gym on opening day, and not one exerciser and/or employee had gone out of their way to
put the Padres game on. I counted, there are 22 TV’s in the gym.

So Friday night I was at a Sports bar in PB. 7:30 at night. NBA playoffs were on, Giants vs. Dodgers were on, even the Sharks were on! Not one single television with the Padres
game on. Over 20 televisions.

Now in the gym’s case, I did ask about their cable provider. They did not have Time Warner, meaning they did have access to the game. In regards to the bar, I did not ask. But I would
bet they had the game. Its more likely that no one requested it.

If you read my blogs often enough I bet I come across as a fan apologist. But I still stand by the fact that the fan is a consumer. A company must SELL you on their product. If
they can’t do that, then that’s on them. 

I’m reminded regularly that the Padres are having a very difficult time selling their product. Now I do recognize that they’ve won 8 of their last 11. But let’s get out of the
sellar first before we begin patting the front office on the back. A Chase
Headley contract extension would be nice, too.

Any time Kenyon Martin is making a decision for a team is the WORST IDEA EVER. Really Kenyon? You thought it would be a good idea to dress in all black before you faced the Celtics, to look like you were going to their funeral.

Hey Knicks, you didn't think this would get back to the Celtics and used for bulletin board material. You didn't think about the questions you would have to face if you lost. You didn't think how it would show disrespect to your oppenent and light a fire under them. You didn't think the media wouldn't blow up this story up if you lost.

Good thinking, guys. Way to act like youv'e been there before. Its obvious now, you won't be there. You have no clue.
