Local charity events never come short in giving back to the community. I had the privilege of attending the Palomar Pomerado Health/LaDainian Tomlinson Gala last Saturday and the Cox Celebrity Championship Red Carpet Reception on Thursday night. Not only is it very cool to attend fun events, but it's even better when you help generate money for a great cause. PPH's Gala generated 2.184 milllion and the Cox Celebrity Championship is well on it's way to helping the Brees Dream Foundation and local charities. It was very bittersweet seeing LT being honored at the Gala. PPH brought in Marty Schottenheimer, Lorenzo Neal and Junior Seau. They were complemented by the MC, and greatest QB of all-time, Dan Fouts. LT showed his emotions as he broke down talking about his relationships with the guys on stage. He mentioned Marty is like a father figure, Neal is best friend in the business and Junior taught him how to be a professional. It was very genuine and amazing to witness. However, I was blown away with the video messages from Peyton Manning, Emmitt Smith, trainer Todd Durkin and Drew Brees. Peyton was very clean and well read...just like himself. Todd's was full of passion and energy. Emmitt's was true and very down to earth...you can tell he likes being LT's mentor. But Drew Brees was everything advertised. He spoke from the heart and you can truly tell they're very good friends. My favorite line was "I can't wait to raise our kids together, no matter where we are around the country." And "did you ever think when we first met in 1996 on the Texas South all-star team that we would have foundations that did so many good things. Nothing about football...but more about the family men off the field. Extremely classy. Did you see Hangover is on HBO now? I can watch this movie every freakin day. Some movies are just classics and this is one. "Tigers love pepper...they hate cinnamon>" Brilliant!
